Come join us for a scenic cruise with the Big Apple club on beautiful Cape Ann.
We begin the day meeting in Beverly at the rest stop on Rte 128 North just after exit 19 at 10:00am. From there we will caravan to Gloucester and meet up with the Big Apple club at the Cape Ann's Marina Resort. We will then cruise through Essex, Beverly Farms, Manchester and Magnolia being sure to hug the coastline whenever possible.
Our first stop will be Hammond Castle
For those of you who have never visited this medieval castle you are in for a treat. For others who have visited in the past it should bring back some fond memories. Admission to the castle will be a group rate of $5.00 per person.
After about an hour or so we will get back on the road winding our way through downtown Gloucester and out to Rocky Neck and the backshore along Atlantic Ave. We will stop for lunch at Amelia's restaurant for subs & seafood near Good Harbor beach. Lunch will be around 2:00pm. You may want to bring a snack to curb your hunger.
We will then ride through downtown Rockport and a few side streets until our next destination ........ Halibut Point State Park.
We will take a leisurely self-guided tour of Cape Ann's granite industry while viewing the spectacular views the park has to offer. There is a parking fee of $5.00 per car.
It's back to the Miatas for, you guessed it, more shoreline driving around the island. We will cruise through North Gloucester and Annisquam village with a stop at Stacy Boulevard. There we can walk the boulevard and visit the famous Fishermen at the Wheel statue and there is an ice cream place for those who want to indulge.
After all of the days events the Big Apple club has asked us to join them for dinner at the Gull restaurant, which is located at the Cape Ann's Marina Resort. Dinner will be at 7:00pm. Please let me know if you would like to stay for dinner, as reservations are required.
If you would like to stay at the Cape Ann's Marina Resort you can contact the hotel for price and availability at 978-283-2116. Please note: the Mass Miata club is not blocking any rooms so you may want to do this as soon as possible.
