Central Mass Fall Foilage Run!

Join us on a crisp fall day for a colorful drive through scenic woods, towns, and parks in central Massachusetts. Hopefully the leaves will be at or near peak at this time.

We'll leave from the park and ride on route 62 and I-495 (Hudson/Berlin exit) which is somewhat equidistant for people coming from route 2 or the Mass Pike. There is a gas station on route 62 on either side of I-495 (one with a Dunkin Donuts) for a pre-trip pit stop.

Our trip will take us thru the towns of Berlin, Boylston, West Boylston, Princeton, Rutland, Barre, and Sterling Mass, and we'll drive by the Wachusett Reservoir and Dam, Rutland State Park, and numerous rivers and ponds.

For lunch we'll stop at the Barre Falls Dam where there is a picnic pavilion, plenty of parking, and public restrooms. The area is very scenic, with trails to hike to the falls and a Frisbee golf course.

We'll have a mobile potluck lunch with each vehicle bringing a hot or cold dish to share. If the weather is predicted to be especially raw that day we'll dine at a restaurant in Barre (TBD).

After lunch we'll continue our drive to Rota Springs Ice Cream where they make their ice cream with milk and cream from their own dairy herd. They are listed as one of the best ice cream places in New England.

Please sign up for this trip by sending email to Jon Weinberg (jon@jonweinberg.com) by Oct. 15. So that we have a variety of food please indicate what dish or food item you'd like to bring (in which of the following categories):

Trip highlights:
