Description: Iron and Steak in Saugus, MA
Our rendezvous point will be the rest area on I495 Northbound between Exits 32 (Westford) and 33 (Chelmsford) at 9:00 AM. Gas is available at Exit 32 and at several locations along the route - please arrive with a full or nearly full tank.

We will be touring the Saugus Iron Works in Saugus MA. This site is the first integrated ironworks in North America 1646-1668. It contains 3 reconstructed buildings including a blast furnace, forge and rolling mill. The original site served as a training ground for skilled iron workers for what would become America's iron and steel industry.

Our tour is scheduled for 11:15 AM. Admission is free

Following the tour we will make our way to the Hilltop Steakhouse for lunch at 1:30 PM. Seating will be at tables of 8 with one check per table. Plan on bringing cash to pay for lunch.

Entrée choices will be:

  • 8 oz Filet Mignon with Baked Potato and Salad - 17.95
  • Broiled Chicken Breast (choice of BBQ, Cajun, Teriyaki or lemon pepper style) with Mashed Red Bliss Potatoes and Salad - 11.95
  • Shrimp Scampi tossed with linguine and a Junior Hilltop Salad - 12.95
Following lunch we will take a leisurely (or as leisurely as you can get in an urban area) ride to a TBD location for ice cream.

This event is rain or shine - plan to bring umbrellas if the weather is rainy. Saugus Iron Works is handicapped accessible but there is some walking involved.

Sign up by April 22nd by emailing or calling Janet.
